Sin City

Who would have believed that a small, dusty town 34 miles from the Colorado River would blossom into the preferred vacation destination for millions. Founded in 1905, Las Vegas means "the meadows" in Spanish and unequalled action in just about every other language.

Each year more than 35 million people choose a Las Vegas vacation to experience the legendary fruits of "Sin City." As recently as 2000, an average visit to Las Vegas lasted 4.5 days, cost roughly $187 for food and drink and featured a budget of $665 for gambling. Of course, most Las Vegas visitors quickly discover that you can spend your entire time in Las Vegas enjoying attractions that have little connection to gambling.

Gorgeous weather, year round

Because of its desert location, Las Vegas weather is among the best in the United States. Las Vegas enjoys an average of 289 days of sunshine per year. The warm, dry summer nights make Las Vegas an ideal 24-hour city. With all that time, Las Vegas still has plenty to keep you busy.

The famous (or infamous) strip

Aside from the action you can easily find on the Las Vegas Strip, Las Vegas also features fantastic golf resorts, engaging museums, amazing weather, gorgeous timeshares, major sporting events, and more internationally famous parks than any other city in the United States.

Most popular destination

More people visit the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas than from anywhere else. Las Vegas is also minutes away from Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the Hoover Dam and the Spring Mountains that are renowned for their skiing, snowboarding and camping.

And for the less adventurous, Las Vegas has been steadily constructing huge, billion dollar resort complexes that are so impressive they've become destinations in themselves. Clearly, Las Vegas has plenty to offer even the most discerning visitor.
