Fine dining while traveling Choosing a fine dining restaurant in Las Vegas can seem quite difficult, you are in an area you do not know and you cannot rely on your usual network of friends for recommendations. Many people are reluctant to ask hotel management for a recommendation for fear of being directed to the nearest tourist trap. With a little common sense and a few rules you needn't worry.
Avoid tourist traps Tourist traps generally line the main streets near attractions, this doesn't mean that all restaurant dining in these areas is disappointing, but you are more likely to encounter it in these areas. Establishments trying to attract tourists will often display pictures of the food they offer, but the food rarely matches the photograph. You are better off wandering down a side street for a hundred yards to get off the main drag. Try and find somewhere that the locals frequent. If it is a special dinner that you are organizing, take an evening stroll the previous day. Look for restaurants that are busy and reflect your needs. Your goal is to find satisfied-looking locals. If you are aiming for a romantic dinner for two, look for restaurants populated mainly by couples. Restaurants that welcome families will often display a children's menu and if you see a high chair, it's a sure sign that you and your family are welcome.
